My Hearwork

My artwork grows from my dissertation research, lived experience, and Indigenous Storywork. Through photography, beadwork, and digital mixed media, I explore memory, addiction, grief, cultural identity, resilience, and healing.

My practice is grounded in Indigenous pedagogy and epistemology, where knowledge lives through Land, story, kinship, memory, spirit, and lived experience. Each medium becomes a form of witnessing and remembering, allowing visual art to carry knowledge, emotion, and teachings that words do not always hold.

Through visual storytelling, I reclaim narratives too often defined through trauma, addiction, and deficit. Instead, my work centers Indigenous strength, cultural continuity, and healing through relationships with family, community, identity, and Land.

This is why I call this work my heartwork. Art allows me to listen closely to what our stories carry, honor what has survived, and create pathways toward remembering who we are and finding our way home.
